Technical Specs

After months of conceptualization and planning, the collaboration of Smart Communications, Inc., Samsung Electronics Philippines and Transmolitor Technologies resulted in a project called Smart Samsung 2.3Ghz WiMAX Project. The project's deployment went in a blast during the last quarter of 2010 in which a total of 168 sites distributed nationwide were targeted to be installed until the first quarter of 2011.

WiMAX or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, as defined, is a telecommunications protocol that provides fixed and fully mobile Internet access. The name "WiMAX" was created by the WiMAX Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard. The forum describes WiMAX as "a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL".

As of the moment, Transmolitor Technologies is in charge of the priority sites in Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija. Simultaneous teams are deployed to cover 41 BTS and 5 ASN-GW sites. The scope of work starts with pre-planning, to detailed planning until data build creation. Included in this scope are the site surveys with the submission of technical site survey reports (TSSR), installation of BS system and its grounding cable, PDU, GPS system, WiMAX antenna and feeder cables, and preparation of appropriate documentations.

Daily monitoring of on-site activities, submission of daily updates and weekly meetings are conducted by the management of Samsung and Transmolitor to ensure that the project is smoothly implemented.
